Our Story
A recurring problem, and what we built to solve it.

I have helped hundreds of candidates across financial services, insurance, accountancy, and professional services find roles that were genuinely right for them. Employers keep coming back for a simple reason: a reputation for identifying the best talent in the market, not the most convenient shortlist.

That track record also showed me where standard recruitment breaks down. The strongest candidates, the ones every firm wants, are consistently the hardest to reach honestly. It is rarely a lack of interest. It is the risk involved in exploring quietly: updating a LinkedIn profile that a manager might notice, registering on a job board where details end up scattered across databases, or speaking to a recruiter only to find a CV circulating without permission.

Most good professionals are not looking for a job. They are quietly open to the right one — but the cost of looking is too high, so they stay put. Employers lose out on people they would happily hire, because those people never surface.

Derek Fitzgerald

Founder & Managing Director

Derek Fitzgerald is the Founder and Managing Director of Tailormade Recruitment Ltd, the company behind Axiom Consultants and Axiom People. His placements number in the hundreds, and the reason employers keep calling him first is simple: he has never sent across a candidate just to fill a shortlist. Derek spent 19 years working in the financial services industry, across the wealth management space, before moving into recruitment in 2016 — nearly two decades inside the industry, followed by a decade recruiting for it. That combination shaped a simple conviction: the best people are rarely the ones applying, and the traditional recruitment model serves neither them nor the firms trying to find them.

Through Axiom Consultants, Derek provides specialist recruitment across financial planning, wealth management, mortgage broking, life and pensions, and paraplanning for the Irish market. In 2026 he launched Axiom People, Ireland's only privacy-first talent platform, where professionals appear anonymously, control exactly which firms can see them, and reveal their identity only when they approve an introduction.

Having sat on both sides of the hiring table, Derek built both businesses on the same principles: discretion, candidate control, and long-term relationships over quick placements. Every registration on Axiom People is still reviewed personally.
